1-2-3, Tire Swing Tree

Picking out a used tire

1. If you don’t have a spare tire lying around, head down to a mechanics/tire store and ask the intimidating, but nice men that work there to peruse their discarded tires. They will likely encourage you to take as many as you wish, (making a tire swing for each member of your family, maybe?).

When choosing a tire, I suggest selecting a low profile tire, the lower and wider the better as it will feel nicer, depending on your tire swinging position preference. Observe how comfortable this tire will be.

2. Use the smoothest yet sturdy nylon rope you have available. Here we demonstrate one method for tying your tire swing, if you’ve ever tied up a boat to a dock, this method is for you. It’s called a clove hitch and it’s easy.

3. Did we mention, wash the tire?
