Friends in the Garden

Three months ago, we added a mantis ootheca (egg sac) to our weekly sunday market endeavor. By no surprise, we prefer to rely on nature over chemicals to keep a balance on the good vs bad garden insects. It wasn’t until today that I came face to face in the branches of the fig tree with this mighty fellow, roughly the same size as my hand. Luckily I came off unscathed.
